Instructional objective(s): Students will be able to create a multi-part plan to create bullying awareness and reduce and prevent bullying in our school. This plan will be presented to school and district administration, teachers, and students for review for implementation in the school. ACTION Before-Class preparation: Prior to the lesson, create the instructions for creating a solution plan. Create a plan for presentations. Ask administrators, other teachers, and members of the student council to join classes for presentations. Reserve computer lab time for students to research persusive techniques and to create their proposals.

Introduce proposal section of the project. Remind students that this solution will be presented to stakeholders (school and district administrators, teachers, other students) to evaluate for implementation in the school. Provide suggestions for proposals, including a PowerPoint, video, brochure, or a paper.

Students will synthesize all of the research compiled by the group.
Review all of the information on the causes of bullying. Highlight repeated information and compile a list of causes of bullying.
Review all of the information on the types of bullying. Highlight repeated information and compile a list of types of bullying.

Review all of the information on suggested solutions for bullying. Highlight repeated information and compile a list of possible solutions to create awareness and reduce and prevent bullying.
Each student will write a reflection to their group on Edmodo based on the information compiled today.

Creating a Solution:
Review the list of possible solutions to create awareness and reduce and prevent bullying together as a group.
Individually, create a plan that includes at least one solution to raise awareness, one solutiong to prevent bullying, and one solution to reduce bullying. Use the list of possible solutions to create the plan. Post plans to the group wiki.
Discuss the various plans in the discussion area of the wiki, including the pros and cons of each suggest solution.
Create a group plan that includes at least one solution to raise awareness, one solutiong to prevent bullying, and one solution to reduce bullying.
At the end of the day, each student should post a reflection about the process of creating a solution plan to their group in Edmodo.

In groups, the students will research persuasive techniques to decide which techniques would be best to use in their proposal. Students should find examples using the techniques to fully understand how they can be used effectively.

In groups, students will design a proposal for their bullying awareness, reduction, and prevention plan. Students will choose a method to present their proposal, then design that proposal collaboratively.
Students should plan their proposals using a persuasive essay plan graphic organizer regardless of the intended final format.
Proposals should include suggested solutions, with supporting details based on the information found about the causes, types, and effects of bullying.
At the end of each day, students should post a reflection about the successes and shortcomings in their groups that day.

MONITOR Ongoing Assessments: Student groups should be monitored to ensure they are focused on the task and working cooperatively in their groups. Postings to Edmodo will be used to verify that each student is contributing to the collaborative group on a daily basis. Accommodations and Extensions: Students can be given opportunities to respond to their group member's postings through Edmodo. Back-up Plan: A back up lesson should be on stand-by for the days in the computer lab, in case the network goes down.
EVALUATION Lesson Reflections and Notes: The graphic organizer will be assessed as a progress grade to redirect students if necessary, and to keep students focused and on track.
